Our plan to keep you safe

A message from the owners - updated 1st July 2020

At The Horn of Plenty, we have always upheld the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness. We know this has never been more important than it is right now, and we want to reassure you that we are taking every precaution to ensure your safety and wellbeing during your stay.

We are delighted to be re-opening our doors to guests from Saturday 4th July 2020, following the latest government guidance and regulations.

Over recent weeks, we’ve reviewed every aspect of our operations. Our aim is to ensure we continue to provide you with the luxurious, relaxing break and fantastic food that you expect from us, whilst also providing the reassurance you need regarding safety, social distancing and cleanliness.

This small Country House Hotel with just 16 bedrooms is in a quiet, rural location where guests come to rewind, be pampered and enjoy a relaxing stay. With 5 acres of gardens and wide open spaces, we can offer a true  “escape to the country” with peace, tranquillity and plenty of outdoor space.

We’re fortunate to already have well-spaced tables in our restaurant and an extensive outdoor seating area. Most of our bedrooms also have their own balcony and terrace, so that you can enjoy your own individual outdoor space.

Pre-arrival & Check-in

Most importantly, if either a guest or a team member is unwell or has any Covid-19 symptoms, we will ask them to stay at home.  On arrival, both guests and staff will have their temperature taken using a contactless thermal thermometer.  Those showing any symptoms of coronavirus will be asked to return home and to arrange a Covid-19 test.

2-3 days before your arrival date, you will be sent a pre-check-in form, to ensure we have all the necessary information.  This means that on arrival, you will simply be asked to sanitise your hands, have your temperature taken, and collect your key.

Contactless payment & check-out

We will be a cashless operation; only credit and debit cards will be accepted at this time.

Check-out will be contactless.  A printed room bill will be placed under your door early on the morning of your departure.

Front of house, we prefer to minimise the use of PPE where possible, preferring regular thorough handwashing and the use of sanitising gels. PPE will be available as required, and may be used by our back of house teams.

Housekeeping

Our Housekeeping team will keep rooms well aired and fresh with country breezes.  Each room will be deep cleaned and fully sanitised before each stay. We have invested in a UV Deep Clean System to sanitise all exposed room surfaces and frequent touch points safely and quickly, removing bacteria and viruses. 

Sanitiser and disinfectant wipes will be put in each bedroom.  Hand sanitisers will also be available throughout the hotel.  All public areas will be regularly cleaned throughout the day.

Linens, towels and robes will be washed on a high heat, with added sanitisation.

Our staff

Prior to returning to work, all staff will undergo extensive training to help keep everyone safe.  

Staff will be temperature-checked upon arrival every day, and will be required to self-certify weekly that they have not been in contact with anyone with Covid-19 symptoms. Any staff member showing symptoms will be immediately sent home and asked to arrange for a Covid-19 test.  They will not be permitted to return until they can prove their results are negative.

Dining

Our restaurant tables and outside seating will be spaced at least 1m apart.   Breakfast will be served a la carte.  Dinner and breakfast times will be extended at busy times, and guests asked to book a specific time slot.   

We will offer a collection service for continental breakfast and supper. A picnic lunch menu will also be available to enjoy on your balcony, in the grounds, or on your days out.

We're asking for your support too

We are doing our utmost to keep you safe.

We are following all the guidelines and have implemented many new measures, but we also need your support please.

• Do not leave home if you or someone you live with has a high temperature, a new continuous cough and/or a loss of/change to sense of smell or taste

• On arrival, ring the bell and wait for a member of the team to greet you and take your temperature

• On entering the building, please sanitise your hands

• Wash your hands frequently or use our hand sanitising dispensers

• Maintain ‘1m plus’ social distancing

• Limit extended contact with other guests

• HMG guidelines state that only two households (which can include a bubble) can holiday together in July. We cannot police this and ask therefore that you risk assess your own party and decide for yourself if your group is appropriate.

• Follow our floor markings for one way systems

• Respect our need for staggered meal times: please be punctual

• Use your bedroom toilet where possible, rather than our public toilets

• Use our online app where possible for menus and information

• Use our collection service where possible, rather than requesting room service

• If you feel unwell while you are with us, plus let a manager know straight away. You must then immediately arrange to get tested by contacting https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/testing-and-tracing/get-an-antigen-test-to-check-if-you-have-coronavirus/

If you see something you think we are doing wrong, please have a quiet word with one of our staff so that we can correct it.  We are all trying to do our best in this new and changing world!
