Vacancy -  Assistant Restaurant Manager

We're looking for an warm, outgoing, energetic person to join our team on a full time basis.


To oversee our very busy restaurant in the absence of the Restaurant Manager, acting as the "maitre d'hote".

To train, develop, manage and motivate staff, ensuring high standards are maintained at all times.

To plan tables, set up bar, restaurant, sitting rooms and outside patio area.

To warmly welcome guests, make them feel special and valued.

To take orders, describe dishes, communicate any allergies/dietary needs to the kitchen.

To serve food and drink, ensure guests are happy, resolve any issues, take payments.

In the evenings, to act as Hotel Manager, doing whatever is needed to ensure the comfort and happiness of guests.

To open up the hotel in the mornings and close down at night.

Person spec

Min 2 years' experience in a similar role.

Enthusiastic, warm, energetic, a people person who likes to be busy.

A natural planner, always looking ahead.

Meticulous attention to detail.

Super flexible.

Calm under pressure.

Salary and benefits

Salary: To £25,000 per annum + tips + 28 days holiday + pension.

Working on average 40 hours per week, including weekends and bank holidays.

Shifts include breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.

Excellent working environment, and the opportunity to be part of a closely-knit team.

Live-in or live-out, whichever you prefer.

Vacancy - Waiting Staff

Salary and benefits

Hourly pay:  To £9.50 per hour depending on age/experience + tips + 28 days holiday (pro rata).

16-20 hours per week, we're flexible. Must include some weekends.

Excellent working environment and the opportunity to be part of a closely-knit team.

Normal shifts are 8am - 12 noon, 12 noon - 4pm and 7pm - 11pm.


To welcome guests, take orders, serve food and drink, clear and re-set tables, polish plates, glasses and cutlery, take payments, go the "extra mile" to ensure every guest has an enjoyable experience.


You must be aged 18 or over, as the role includes regular bar work.

We’re looking for candidates living local to Tavistock who are warm, friendly and outgoing, good with customers, and passionate about delivering outstanding service.

You need to be flexible, 100% reliable and willing to work additional hours at short notice.

You will also need your own transport, as we are not on a bus route.

Previous experience in a similar environment desirable, however full training will be provided.
