OVER £4,000 RAISED FROM CHARITY LUNCHES IN AID OF CHILDREN’S HOSPICE SOUTH WEST

Charity lunches throughout January and February 2005 at The Horn of Plenty Hotel & Restaurant near Tavistock in Devon have raised £4,155.12 in aid of Little Bridge House children’s hospice near Barnstaple - currently the only children’s hospice serving the south west region – thanks to generous donations from the Hotel’s customers.

This is the second time The Horn of Plenty has run charity lunches in aid of the hospice and joint owners Paul Roston and Peter Gorton, presented Abbie Smith, Regional Fundraiser for Children’s Hospice South West, with a cheque on 23rd March 2005. So far, the Hotel’s restaurant customers have raised almost £10,000 in aid of Little Bridge House.

Children’s Hospice South West runs Little Bridge House and is hoping to raise £15 million for a second hospice, Charlton Farm near Bristol, which will give families the option to attend a hospice closer to home or take a break in a different area, as well as providing much-needed additional capacity for Little Bridge House.

‘We are extremely grateful to Peter and Paul and their customers at The Horn of Plenty for such a generous donation. The money raised is already making a real difference to the children and their families,’ said Abbie Smith.

Peter and Paul are dedicated fundraisers for Little Bridge House said; ‘The hospice is such a warm, loving place and the children and their families are so brave. I’m so thankful to our customers for their generosity and I want to do as much as I can to support the hospice.

‘I’ve got quite a few more fundraising projects planned for this year to help them raise their £15 million total including my new cook book ‘A Little Slice of Heaven’ which contains recipes I devised with children at the hospice,’ said Peter.

To buy a copy of the cookbook, send a donation of £5 with details of your name and address to: Cookery Book, Children’s Hospice South West, Little Bridge House, Redlands Road, Fremington, Barnstaple, EX31 2PZ. Cheques should be made payable to Children’s Hospice South West. To order by credit card, call Little Bridge House on 01271 325270.
