Waitrose Food Illustrated magazine has rated cookery courses by top Devon chef Peter Gorton, from The Horn of Plenty Country House Hotel and Michelin star restaurant near Tavistock, among the top 25 in the world and among the top five for value for money.
The magazine journalist, who penned the article and attended one of the courses, said, ‘Peter covers plenty of ground, and his knowledge and passion are inspiring. I learnt lots about cooking, but I also gained an insight into the world of the chef and real impetus to experiment for myself.’
Renowned for his gentle approach and natural enthusiasm for teaching, Peter ensures everyone has a thoroughly enjoyable day learning a host of cooking methods and ideas whilst improving their skills, whatever level of cook they are.
Menus vary through each of the course dates and cover a variety of cultures, from European to Oriental.
Those attending the course don’t need to get their hands dirty because Peter and his team do all the work - the students simply get to enjoy the superb meal with wine, followed by coffee or tea, at the end of a fascinating three hour course.
The cost for the day is only £55.00 per person and courses run through January and March 2005 and resume in October 2005. Special rates are available on accommodation for those travelling from afar. Groups are welcome such as staff away-days, hen parties etc.
