EGON RONAY’S RAC GUIDE TO TOP 200 RESTAURANTS ‘WARMLY RECOMMENDS’
THE HORN OF PLENTY, TAVISTOCK
The Horn of Plenty Country House Hotel and Restaurant near Tavistock, is warmly recommended and has been acclaimed for the quality of its food by renowned food critic Egon Ronay, making it one of the top 200 restaurants in the UK, according to the RAC Guide 2005 (published 24 February 2005). Egon Ronay said: ‘The Horn of Plenty is an excellent restaurant and richly deserves its position in the top 200.’
‘As always our inspection concentrated on the quality of food and we were very impressed with our meal there.’
The news comes shortly after The Horn of Plenty received a Michelin Star for the eighth consecutive year and was voted as having one of the best cookery courses in the world by Waitrose Food Illustrated magazine.
Peter Gorton, The Horn of Plenty’s Head Chef, said: "Guides like these are really important in raising the standards across the board and customers are far more knowledgeable about food these days. I think this is particularly noticeable in the South West, where there is such a collection of good restaurants and many, like us, insist on using fresh, local produce."
Set in five acres with breathtaking views over the Tamar Valley, The Horn of Plenty is renowned for serving up top quality, fresh, locally sourced food whilst also being one of the most luxurious hotels in Devon.
As well as beautiful accommodation, the hotel is licensed to hold civil wedding ceremonies and is also a popular choice for business conferences and meetings.
